80 foot Converted Tug Swell

Swell, one of the most well-known tugboats on the BC coast, was built in Vancouver in 1912 and immediately went into service for the Victoria Tug and Barge Company.

Through her rebuilds, she has maintained the sweeping lines that make her a favourite along the coast.

There is a large, wood-panelled salon - a relaxing place to read or play a quiet game, learn from the naturalist and crew, and enjoy a drink and superb meals from Swell's gourmet chef.

There are two deck lounges, as well as covered promenades leading to each exterior cabin door. All cabins have deck access, and natural light from the windows.

There is a hot tub on the upper aft deck.

Kayaks, rigid-hull inflatable boats, hydrophone, fishing gear, naturalist tools ensure that Swell offers her remote-access trips with the spirit of discovery that Maple Leaf Adventures is known for.

Swell underwent a $3.5 million refit in 2004 to convert her from a working tugboat to a passenger carrying vessel.

The refit was lovingly done, with quality workmanship and materials, creating a warm ship that people instantly fall in love with.

The ship’s sea-kindly attributes, long range, and strength allow you to access extraordinary wilderness areas of the coast most people will never reach.
